Dr. Goodridge is a Professor and Director of the Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety at the University of Guelph. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Guelph with a major emphasis in Food Microbiology and Food Safety in 2002. His lab applies genomics to the study of foodborne bacteria, viruses, parasites and antibiotic resistance within a One Health context. He also focuses on educating consumers about food safety. Goodridge conducts wastewater and social media surveillance to develop faster ways to identify outbreaks of infectious diseases caused by foodborne pathogens (E. coli,SalmonellaListeriaCronobacter) and SARS-COV-2. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has obtained more than $50 million in public and private research funding from Canadian and international sources.
