Lubertus Bijlsma

Lubertus Bijlsma PhD (ORCID: 0000-0001-7005-8775) is researcher at the Research Institute for Pesticides and Water (IUPA) of the University Jaume I, Castelló, Spain. His research activities were directed towards the use of liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry applied to environmental chemistry and public health, with emphasis on the investigation of drugs and their metabolites in water. His interests focused on wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) and got strongly involved in streamlining this field of science on an international scale. He was member of the management committee, progress committee and leader of 3 working packages of European funded projects related to the subject. He published 65 peer-reviewed papers and 5 book chapters (H-index: 35) and has more than 60 conference communications (9 invited talks). Recently, he was awarded a prestigious fellowship entitled “Wastewater-based epidemiology as surveillance and early warning of antimicrobial agents usage and resistance to the community level (SEWAR)” financed by ”la Caixa” Foundation (LCF/BQ/PR21/11840012). At present, he is member of the Editorial Board of Science of the Total Environment and vice-coordinator of the Sewage Analysis CORe group Europe (SCORE) network.
